The Emergence Quartet, is a period-instrument string quartet dedicated to exploring the fascinating and little-known origins of the genre, presents “Conversations with Haydn,” a program that channels the rich, inventive musical world of Haydn’s
Vienna. Two quartets celebrate the mutual admiration between Haydn and Mozart: a characteristically joyous, witty selection from Haydn’s opus 33, and Mozart’s turbulent “Dissonance” quartet, one of a set he wrote in response and tribute to opus 33. Also making an appearance are Eybler, Haydn’s unique protégé and a lifelong friend of Mozart, and Albrechtsberger, a precise but quirky composer who taught some of Vienna’s leading lights, including Eybler and This event is funded by donations and is free of charge to attend.
