Library Awarded Technology Grant
We are pleased to announce the launch of a new laptop lending program made possible through funding from the Massachusetts Broadband Institute's (MBI) Connected & Online program.
The library was awarded a grant through the program to help expand access to technology within the community. Through this grant, the library received 30 laptops. Five Dell Latitude 2-in-1 tablets are now available for patrons to borrow and use at home, while the remaining devices are reserved for use within the library. The in-house devices will support new technology classes beginning this fall. These classes will provide hands-on opportunities for patrons to build digital skills and gain confidence using technology in a supportive learning environment.
The new lending program supports the library's ongoing commitment to providing equitable access to technology and helping community members stay connected. Patrons can use the laptops to search and apply for jobs, attend online classes and training programs, access telehealth services, complete schoolwork, or simply stay connected with family and friends.
The take-home tablets are available for checkout for two weeks at a time. Patrons must be 18 years of age or older and have a library card in good standing to borrow a device. Interested patrons can visit the main desk and speak with a staff member to get started.
This program was made possible through the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative.
