We've Updated Our Inclement Weather Closing Policy:
The Woods Memorial Library will follow the Quabbin Regional School District (QRSD) closure policy during periods of inclement weather.
If the QRSD cancels or closes school due to inclement weather, the library will also be closed.
If the QRSD delays opening by two hours on a Wednesday or Thursday when the library normally opens at 10 a.m., the library will open at 12 p.m.
If the QRSD delays opening by two hours on a Tuesday or Friday when the library normally opens at 2 p.m., the library will open at 2 p.m.
During weekends or summer, any weather-related emergency closings or delayed openings will be made at the discretion of the Director, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
Announcements regarding closings or delayed openings will be made on the library website, the library's Facebook page, and our answering machine message.
The primary factor of any decision made will be the safety of the staff and library patrons.
Holiday Closing Changes
In accordance with town policy, the library will now be closed on any Tuesday following a Monday holiday. In the past, the library was closed on any Saturday before a Monday holiday. We will now be open on that Saturday, and closed on the following Tuesday.
CWMARS Turns on
Now, not only can Barre residents use their local library card to check out materials at any of the 147 CWMARS libraries across the state, but all items checked out at the library will automatically be renewed!
An email notification will be sent on the due date alerting you of the renewal status of your checked out items. The email will list all items due on that date and if your items were successfully renewed or unable to be renewed.
Top Service Priorities
The library's mission is to provide a welcoming community center to the Town of Barre, while serving as a resource for knowledge, information, education, and technology.
